We are trying to pin down a date so we can start some real marketing for this great event! Reply to this post and let us know which date works best for you, We have already gotten some response through the FB page, but would love to hear your vote as well :) So far it seems that the 4th June is a popular date, but we are putting it up for a vote.
When would you like to see the Slutwalk Birmingham happen?
Update from the facebook group:
Spoke to my contact at the Council. His name is Mike McDonald on 0121 303 5406.
Fortunately, there is no need for a bureaucratic ‘permit’ for a peaceful protest. He was most concerned about the numbers of people who will attend - possible disruption to traffic etc. Above a certain number there may be a need for road closures. He said we’d be looking for 6/7 people walking side by side - that we’d need ‘stewards’ in high vis jackets to be directing the march to make sure we are “one moving mass” through the city. This is our responsibility. He seemed to say at the numbers we have at the moment, there isn’t a need for much input from the Council. I said the only numbers I have at the moment are approx 300 in the group. As it stands, we would have to use wide roads and pathways where possible. He mentioned Bristol Road and said that there has been another protest in the past where they ended up in a park at the end of the march. I said we wanted to end up at the CPS and he said we’d need to clear that with Police. He stressed potential “security concerns” with that but I personally doubt this will be a stumbling block.
What came out of the conversation is
1.How much we need to pin down the route soon, and;
2. Confirm numbers where possible (we haven’t really peaked on marketing this though have we? Any ideas re this & timescales?)
Someone with local knowledge should have a think about the most accessible route to the CPS. Mike wanted to talk to me about logistics but I have no knowledge of Birmingham so we hit a wall :S I want to get this sorted before we get the Police involved.
This happened less than an hour after the site was started. That’s absolutely amazing.
Here’s to ending street harassment forever!

we are still waiting on input from the birmingham council on when would be best, and even after choosing a date all things will be permits pending, but i’m thinking end of may/beginning of june.
dear everyone— would you prefer the last weekend of may (28/29) or the first weekend of june (4/5)? or different dates entirely?
keep in mind 30 may is a bank holiday and 20 may there is a protest against transphobia in london that we don’t want to conflict with.
also, would a saturday or sunday be better?
